Rebecca Brown Named DBU Staff Member of the Year
Rebecca Brown's Contribution to DBU
Dallas Baptist University has named Rebecca Brown the 2011-2012 Staff Member of the Year. She has been a member of the DBU staff for the past 20 years and currently serves as the director of international student services. Rebecca was recognized during the Staff Appreciation Luncheon held in the Great Hall of the John G. Mahler Student Center.
Rebecca has provided leadership and guidance to the more than 550 international students at DBU from 55 different countries. She directs the enrollment, administration, and supervision of international students entering the University. She also provides support for the Intensive English Program (IEP).
Educational Background and Career at DBU
Rebecca received an associate's degree from Decatur Baptist College (now Dallas Baptist University) in 1965, a bachelor's degree from Howard Payne University in 1967, and a master's degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. She joined the DBU staff in 1991 as the director of the AESL program and then became the director of international student services in 1992.
Rebecca and her husband, Dr. Donald Brown, who serves as an adjunct professor of history at DBU, make their home in Irving. They have two sons, Cedric and Seth; a daughter-in-law, Shannon; and one grandson, Axel.
Kalie Lowrie was the former Director of News and Information at Dallas Baptist University.
