Dr. Sandra Reid on Producing Servant Leaders
"We're difference-makers, and that’s why God calls us to this particular place at this particular time." - Dr. Sandra Reid, Chair of the Graduate School of Business
Dr. Sandra Reid believes that a good leader is one who helps, builds, grows, and develops others to be the best that they can be. As the Chair of the Graduate School of Business at Dallas Baptist University, her role is to be a guide and mentor to students as they find their place and fulfill their calling.
"Students who come to DBU want to make a difference for themselves, for their families, their communities, and for all of those with whom they come into contact." What binds the DBU community together is their
- Christian faith
- Being confident
- Going boldly forward
- Finding their strengths
- Finding their calling
"Servant leadership is leading by example, it's ethical decision-making, it's putting others in front of you, it's knowing where others are so that you can help them, and knowing that your responsibility is to help others be the best they can be."
Dr. Reid believes no one at DBU is there by accident. DBU students and alumni are "difference-makers, and know that's why God has called them to this particular place at this time." DBU is a sanctuary where students find their vocations and begin the journey to fulfilling God's plan for their lives.
Servant leadership is core to Dallas Baptist University's mission, and the Graduate School of Business enthusiastically promotes the ethos of service as they build future global leaders. "Our mission at DBU is to produce servant leaders. Servant leadership is leading by example, it's ethical decision-making, it's putting others in front of you, it's knowing where others are so that you can help them, and knowing that your responsibility is to help others be the best they can be."
At DBU, "you're given practical opportunities to experience how to lead, and then the only natural thing for you to do is to go. That's why we say ‘Serve, Lead, Go - DBU Graduate School of Business.'"
The Graduate School at Dallas Baptist University provides a Christ-centered academic environment that combines deep exploration of faith with over 30 master’s degree options.
