DBU Honors Students with Frank and Martin Moore Servant Leadership Scholarship

Dallas, TX - Dallas Baptist University recently presented the Frank and Martin Moore Servant Leadership Award to Brittany O'Neal and Jonathan Fechner for their outstanding stewardship within the DBU community and in the broader Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Brittany and Jonathan were chosen out of several of their peers to receive the award. Students selected for the award receive $750 towards educational use and $250 to donate to a charity of the student's choosing.

Brittany O'Neal, a native of The Colony, Texas, graduated from The Colony High School and is currently a freshman at DBU. She is a management major and serves as the DBU Student Government Senator, a DBU Ambassador, and a student ministry intern at The Church on Rush Creek. She hopes to be a servant leader while she works and leads in corporate America.

"I am so grateful for this opportunity and scholarship," stated O'Neal. "I believe a servant leader is a choice to lay down your life for Christ and to sell out to His desire to use you as a vessel to breathe life into those around you."

Jonathan Fechner was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Prestonwood Christian Academy and is currently a freshman here at DBU. He is a member of Psi Omega Phi and a student worker in DBU's Gary Cook School of Leadership. Jonathan plans to use business as a tool to bring the Gospel to all people.

"To me, servant leadership is realizing that you have not been given authority over individuals to exploit them for your own good, but rather to serve those individuals while calling them to a common goal for the betterment of society," Jonathan Fechner.

The Frank and Martin Moore Servant Leadership Award is awarded to deserving students that demonstrate integrity and humility in service. This award acknowledges and rewards leadership in the areas of community and ministry service from within the Dallas Baptist University community. One male and one female freshman with a 2.7 GPA or above are eligible for consideration.

"We are honored to have named our servant leadership award after Mr. Martin Moore and his father, Frank," said Andrew Briscoe, assistant vice president for advancement. "Throughout his life, the time, prayer and effort Marty has dedicated toward advancing God's kingdom has been a testimony for all of us. He is an excellent example of a servant leader."
