DBU Students Awarded Frank and Martin Moore Servant Leader Award
Dallas, TX - Two DBU freshmen, Staci Beene and Jacob Alger, recently received the Frank and Martin Moore Servant Leader Award. The scholarship selection committee, made up of Dr. Cory Hines, Dr. Justin Gandy, Andrew Briscoe, and Savanah Milne, met in the spring to choose one deserving freshman female student and one deserving freshman male student for this honor.
Staci Beene, a business management major from McKinney, has served as a leader for several in area churches as a DiscipleNow weekend leader throughout the spring and was a member of the DBU Beach Reach team that traveled to South Padre Island over Spring Break. She attends First Baptist Church Grand Prairie and serves the youth at the church as a volunteer leader. In addition to her service through the DBU Baptist Student Ministry and her church, Staci has been an English Conversation Partner through the DBU International Department.
Jacob Alger, a Christian studies major from Round Rock, serves with Soaring Eagles, a ministry for adults with disabilities, and as a mentor at Youth World in South Dallas. Jacob is a DBU Ambassador and also works in the University's Rec Life Office. He is currently attending Watermark Church and serving as a small group leader.
Courtney Hackett (Smith) served as the Assistant to the Vice President for Communications in the University Communications division at DBU.
