Marietta Lofton: Discovering Her Calling
"As a health care manager, I have been able to advance in my career, but my degree has also set me on the right path for future advancement." - Marietta Lofton, DBU Graduate Student
Dallas Baptist University's Master of Arts in Management program provided Marietta Lofton the support she needed to balance career and family with earning a degree. "I would not have been able to get through my coursework without the support I had from my advisors," said Marietta.
"I would not have been able to get through my coursework without the support I had from my advisors,"
Through DBU, Marietta was able to earn a master's degree that opened the doors she needed for career advancement. The degree did more than that though. Through her time at DBU, Marietta also discovered her calling—leadership. She learned how to be a servant leader in her workplace and through that, she has learned that leadership involves more than a position. "I've learned that leadership and managing others is not the main focus. The main focus is teaching, coaching, and motivating others."
The MA in Management helped Marietta become a better leader through employing the ethical management principles she learned at DBU in her service to her employees. In turn, those she leads are better equipped to serve the patients and families that seek care at one of the top 8 national children's hospitals in the country.

DBU provided the foundation for Marietta to make a positive impact on children's lives. DBU wants to help you make a difference in your sphere of influence too.
