Three New Academic Programs to be Offered in Fall 2020

Coming this Fall 2020, DBU is rolling out several new degree opportunities in currently growing and always changing fields of church media, finance, and healthcare. “We are so pleased that these new programs provide innovative, career-focused education for students who are interested in these opportunities,” says Dr. Norma Hedin, Provost.

Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in Communication: Church Media

The language and communication of our current culture is media and technology, and to meet the growing demand in churches across the country for knowledgeable, experienced professionals to lead teams of skilled media volunteers and leverage technology for the sake of the Gospel, DBU is one of the few universities to now offer an accredited degree for this field.

The 120-hour degree program will prepare media professionals to lead and serve with excellence in the local church and provide students opportunity to develop their technical and leadership skills in the classroom while also connecting them with internships in local churches to gain real-world field experience. 

Master of Science in Finance

Technology impacts so many different fields today, and few more important than finance. From blockchain, artificial intelligence, and machine learning in investment management, those with up to date skills and knowledge are a critical asset to the effective functioning of any organization. 

This new 36-hour STEM degree prepares professionals for careers in finance, including investments, analysis, and corporate management, equipping graduates of this program to administrate in the areas of statistics, financial engineering, and the latest technologies. This degree will also provide excellent preparation for successful completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams.

Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences

The health service industries are all about building relationships with patients and encouraging them on the road to holistic health. Qualified professionals in the health-related fields are always in great demand, and even greater is the demand for Christian leaders to serve others in these contexts.

DBU has recently structured its pre-professional preparation courses into a new 120/121-hour degree offering that will furnish graduates with the necessary foundations for entrance into master’s and doctoral degree programs that concentrate in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, and chiropractic care.
