DBU Receives Dean Foundation Grant to Begin Dean Institute for Criminal Justice Leadership
Dallas Baptist University is excited to announce the establishment of the William B. Dean, M.D. Institute for Criminal Justice Leadership made possible by the generous $500,000 contribution given by The Dean Foundation. With plans to launch in the spring of 2022, the Dean Institute for Criminal Justice aims to foster collaboration with special law enforcement leaders, offer intellectual engagement through conferences, symposiums, workshops, and certificate program opportunities, and seek out ways to financially invest in law enforcement officials pursuing certificate and degree programs in Criminal Justice at DBU.
“The criminal justice program at Dallas Baptist University is both excited and humbled to collaboratively work with the Dean Foundation alongside a shared vision of educating, training, developing and resourcing criminal justice leaders and practitioners,” said Dr. Richard Conroy, Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice at DBU. “DBU has a 50 year tradition of developing criminal justice servant leaders positively impacting our community for Christ.”
Named to memorialize Dr. William B. Dean, M.D., father of Dr. David Dean, the Dean Institute for Criminal Justice is built upon the reputation of excellence demonstrated by Dr. Dean, M.D. throughout his life. In addition to the establishment of the physical location of the institute, DBU will introduce the endowed William B. Dean, M.D. Criminal Justice Servant Leadership Scholarship, establish the endowment to support the William B. Dean, M.D. Criminal Justice Certificate Program, and establish the endowment to support the William B. Dean, M.D. Criminal Justice Servant Leadership Award and Conference.
“The Dean Foundation couldn’t be more pleased and excited to continue to work with DBU to further our mutual objectives in support of law enforcement and crime prevention activities,” added David Dean who chairs the Dean Foundation.
“DBU has a longstanding tradition of advancing our support and work in law enforcement,” stated Dr. Adam C. Wright, DBU President. “The investment of the Dean Foundation will aid our cause in establishing an international center for educating, training, resourcing, collaborating, convening, and transforming the work of those aspiring to or leading in law enforcement.”
