Dr. Michelle Henry's Background
Dr. Michelle Henry is a Professor of English and Associate Dean for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Dallas Baptist University.
Dr. Henry specializes in twentieth-century American Literature, and her scholarship centers on faith, culture, race, and gender. She has had papers accepted at such forums as the American Literature Association Conference (Boston), presented at CCTE: Conference for College Teachers of English, published articles applying her literary research to contemporary culture, and recently contributed a chapter on Fannie Lou Hamer in More Witnesses to the Baptist Heritage.
DBU’s Piper/Outstanding Professor of the Year (2017), Dr. Henry teaches World Literature II, American Literature Surveys, Modern American Drama, Postcolonial Literature, Literature of the Harlem Renaissance, and courses on Toni Morrison. Deeply committed to graduate studies, she recently developed an upper-level course entitled Faith Themes in Toni Morrison’s Fiction which is offered at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
