Dr. Mark Bloom Named DBU Faculty Member of the Year
Dallas, TX – Dr. Mark Bloom, Professor of Biology, was named the 2016-17 DBU Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year.
Dr. Bloom joined the DBU family in August of 2012 after more than 18 previous years in higher education. During his time at DBU thus far, Dr. Bloom has instructed students in a variety of courses in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the College of Education, as well as has served on the Educator Preparation Board since the fall of 2015.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Bloom has received a variety of awards reflecting his excellence in and out of the classroom, including multiple “Favorite” or “Most Influential” professor awards. Bloom’s impact has reached outside of the classroom as well, as other awards of his reflect service in different areas of Student Affairs.
Dr. Bloom and his wife, Melissa, have a daughter, Macy, and currently reside in Fort Worth. The Blooms are active members of Northwood Church in Keller.
Courtney Hackett (Smith) served as the Assistant to the Vice President for Communications in the University Communications division at DBU.
