Student Organizations

Student Organizations are an important extension of the classroom experience at DBU. We have a vast amount of student organizations from which to choose, so there's something for everyone. And if there's not, you can create one! Becoming a member of a student organization helps you meet new people, and opens pathways for students to develop their leadership and become servant leaders in their community.

DBU has many active student organizations focused upon various academic, social, service, and spiritual emphases.

The DBU student organizations website is designed to serve as a resource for members and students involved in student organizations. You'll be able to search and see what organizations meet your leadership potential and find answers to questions about policies and procedures necessary to maintain the standards established for our student organizations. Organizations

Alpha Chi National Honor Society

This group is an honor organization for undergraduate students who rank at the junior and senior level and have attained a 3.5 GPA. The minimum required grade point average will be determined by the membership limitations dictated by the current national constitution of Alpha Chi. The student invited to membership must have been a regular student at DBU for at least one academic year prior to election. Membership is a privilege and honor extended by invitation from the DBU Faculty Council or the faculty sponsors of the Texas Alpha Nu Chapter of Alpha Chi.

Alpha Sigma Omega

Alpha Sigma Omega, as an honor society, is an association of individuals selected for distinguished ability and achievement in scholarship, leadership, service, and Christian ethics.  The purpose of the society is to advance a spirit of scholarship, recognize and encourage leadership, demonstrate servant leadership on the Dallas Baptist University campus and in the surrounding community, and support the history, heritage, and ideals of the university.

Dallas Baptist Music Educators

The purpose of Dallas Baptist Music Educators is to network with full-time music educators, attend workshops and clinics, and participate in activities that prepare the student for a career in music education.

Omicron Delta Kappa

The mission of Omicron Delta Kappa is to identify, honor, and develop leaders in collegiate and community life, to encourage collaboration among students, faculty, staff, and alumni, to advance leadership, and to promote and publicize our ideals.

Pi Lambda Theta

A Division of Phi Delta Kappa International, Pi Lambda Theta, is a nationally regarded honor society for Education majors that provides an opportunity to formally recognize students for their outstanding academic achievements.

Phi Beta Delta

The purpose of Dallas Baptist University's chapter of Phi Beta Delta is to recognize and encourage achievements in the areas of international education and exchange.

Psi Chi

Psi Chi is a nationally accredited honor society founded for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology.

Sigma Tau Delta

Sigma Tau Delta is the International English Honor Society. The Society strives to confer distinction for high achievement in English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies; provide, through its local chapters, cultural stimulation on college campuses and promote interest in literature and the English language in surrounding communities; foster all aspects of the discipline of English, including literature, language, and writing; promote exemplary character and good fellowship among its members; exhibit high standards of academic excellence; and serve society by fostering literacy.

Student Education Association

This association is a pre-professional organization for students preparing to teach. This group promotes awareness of professional teacher organizations, professional responsibilities, and effective teaching strategies as an auxiliary to the College of Education. Attendance is a requirement for education majors.

Theta Alpha Kappa

This organization is the national honor society for academic studies in Religion and/or Theology, and it exists to encourage, recognize, and maintain excellence in such studies within baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate degree programs, but also within the academic profession more broadly understood. Theta Alpha Kappa is a national honor society created in 1976 for the purpose of honoring particularly excellent students in the fields of theology and/or religious studies. In 1994 it became a "related scholarly organization" of AAR (American Academy of Religion), the largest religious society in the United States of America. TAK now has 160 chapters all over the country.

Tri Beta

The purpose of Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society shall be to function as an honor and professional society for students of the biological sciences. Its activities shall be designed to stimulate interest, scholarly attainment, and investigation in the biological sciences and to promote the dissemination of information and new interpretations among students of the life sciences.

Baptist Student Ministries

The BSM is a religious organization for students of all denominations that sponsor student missionaries, mission trips, Bible studies, and events on campus.

Cru

Cru is an on-campus Christian organization that is committed to fulfilling the Great Commission by winning people to Christ, building them up in their faith, and sending them out to win and build others. There are over 1,100 campus ministries nationwide, and Cru has a ministry presence in 191 countries!

Men's Ministry

DBU men's ministry exists to glorify God through the gathering and fellowship of God-fearing men who are actively seeking Him and being obedient to His call. we meet biweekly for fellowship, worship, and a message. We also have small groups that meet at different times throughout the week to study the word of God. Come as you are. All are welcome!

Ratio Christi

Ratio Christi (Latin for 'The Reason of Christ') is a global movement that equips university students and faculty to give historical, philosophical, and scientific reasons for following Jesus Christ. Bringing together faith and reason to establish the intellectual voice of Christ in the University, Ratio Christi is planting student-led apologetics clubs at universities around the world. Students engaged in the battle for the mind, learn to defend God's existence, the reliability of the Bible, and the fact of Christ's resurrection. We seek a Renaissance of Christian Thinking in the University.
Our chapter of Ratio Christi upholds the mission statement of the national organization as stated above and hopes to bring its passion for apologetics to the students of Dallas Baptist University. We hope to equip students for any questions or discussions that might come their way and teach them to defend the gospel in a loving manner. Our goal is to deepen the roots of our faith so that we might gain a better understanding of our creator. We want to create a community that will encourage students to seek God's truth while "being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you" (1 Peter 3:15).
Our meetings consist of guest speakers, public debates, and student-led discussions. We meet every Tuesday night from 8:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m. in room 111A of the International Center.

Women's Ministry

Student Ambassadors

Student Ambassadors are a selected group of students who represent DBU at college nights and at local high schools and help with other recruiting and publicity tasks.

Students with Disabilities Union

The Students with Disabilities Union (SDU) is an organization that aims to provide students with disabilities enrolled at DBU with a loving and uplifting community. SDU desires to serve and advocate for the students of DBU, as well as educate the students, faculty, and staff on how to best meet the needs and serve the students with disabilities at DBU. We want to create a safe and loving place for students with disabilities to find community, to help students with disabilities not feel so alone and isolated in their struggles, to equip and teach students with disabilities how to advocate for themselves, and educate students and staff on campus about what having a disability is like on campus. We will evaluate, identify, and advocate for ways that DBU, as a learning institution and campus community, can better serve individuals with disabilities. We would like to have one-on-one meetings, devotionals posted to social media, monthly meetings for all members, and just overall foster community for the students with disabilities that attend DBU.

Student Government Association

The purpose of SGA is to establish a direct line of communication between students and administration. SGA is composed of four officers: president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer, as well as twenty senators (five from each class). Officers and senators are elected in the spring semester to serve the following academic year; first-year senators are elected at the beginning of the fall semester. Candidates for SGA positions must be in good standing and must be approved by the Dean of Students and Spiritual Life and the Executive Vice President.

African Students Union (ASU)

The African Student Union (ASU) exists to promote unity and appreciation of cultural diversity among African Students and the DBU community and to support African students in their academic pursuits and transition to life in the United States through a variety of activities. The ASU aims to provide all students the opportunity to find a home in the DBU community.

Brazilian Student Association (BSA)

The Mission of the Brazilian Student Association (BSA) is to promote cultural enrichment among Brazilian students and the DBU community through social and spiritual activities in order to enhance their Christ-centered and servant leadership experience at DBU.

Christian Legal Society

Christian Legal Society is dedicated to serving Jesus Christ through the practice and study of law, the defense of religious freedom and life, and the provision of legal aid to the needy.

DiverseCity (DC)

The purpose of DiverseCity (DC) is to showcase the diversity of international students in DBU through worship to unite students of all nationalities, share music from the various cultures represented, and serve the university community.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

FCA is a non-denominational Christian sports ministry. Unite your two passions, faith and athletics, to impact the world for Jesus! Come join us!

International Chinese Fellowship (ICF)

The purpose of the International Chinese Fellowship (ICF) is to promote cultural enrichment among Chinese students and the DBU community through social and spiritual activities in order to enhance their Christ-centered and servant leadership experience at DBU.

Hispanic Student Union

Thank you for your interest in joining the Hispanic Student Union (HSU)! This organization at DBU is designed for all students and fosters an enriching experience of the Hispanic culture, heritage, and traditions at DBU and the DFW metroplex. The HSU empowers and supports students with their personal development and advocates for a diverse and inclusive community. The HSU will come alongside the Director of Hispanic Relations and represent the university at several Hispanic ministry events.

Korean Student Association (KSA)

The mission of the Korean Student Association is to promote fellowship and unity among Korean and non-Korean students at Dallas Baptist University in order to help them become servant leaders who have a greater Christian perspective of current affairs in the global world.

Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS)

OLAS has established a mission to grow personally, as a group, and spiritually. The Latin American culture is strong in friendship, sharing, and family. For many of the members of the organization, OLAS is a group where they can feel more "at home". By having fellowship and sharing the culture of Latin American countries, members unite, and the center of this union is faith in Jesus Christ. OLAS opens up opportunities to worship God and serve Him.

Patriot Mock Trial Team

The Patriot Mock Trial Team exists to produce Christ-centered servant leaders who are equipped to engage in oral advocacy with excellence in the legal profession and to develop and maintain a vibrant Christian law student presence on the campus of Dallas Baptist University.

Pro-Life Patriots

Pro-life Patriots seek to uphold the dignity of every human life from conception to natural death. All humans, being made in the image of God, are inherently valuable and deserved to be protected. The Pro-Life Patriots foster a Culture of Life through education, community outreach, and activism on the DBU campus and surrounding areas.

The Regiment

In the year 2010, DBU introduced a fraternal order to be known as The Regiment. This group of five men, Cannoneers, will foster an understanding and appreciation for the legacy of the American Patriot. The Regiment will be charged with the duty of protecting and executing the order of the cannon. Through the firing of the cannon, The Regiment will be responsible for advancing a spirit of pride among the University community.

South Asian Student Association (SASA)

The purpose of the South Asian Student Association (SASA) is to share love and friendship with South Asian students and help develop Christian servant leaders. SASA will provide opportunities for fellowship, promote cultural exchange among students from different countries, and provide educational and social experiences.

South East Asian Student Organization

The mission of the South East Asian Student Organization is to welcome, love, assist, and show hospitality to all South East Asian students to cultivate DBU's values and focus on developing physical, emotional, and spiritual maturity through fellowship in addition to promoting events on campus that celebrate the unity of the regions.

The Vietnamese International Student Association (VISA)

To reach out to all the Vietnamese students on the DBU campuses, to fellowship, and to share cultural events with other Vietnamese Students as well as other DBU students. To encourage Vietnamese students to show the love of Christ.

Young Americans for Freedom

Young Americans for Freedom (YAF at DBU) is committed to promoting conservative principles, individual freedom, and traditional American values for the glory of God. We accomplish our goals through community engagement, volunteer endeavors, education, and the cultivation of community on campus.
